I know, I'm off to a horrible start on that whole not procrastinating and getting things done and uploaded prospect. In my defense, I spent the better part of a week looking for scans of sketches done on tiny papers to upload to my scraps, only to believe them lost until I found that I hadn't scanned them, I had copied them with my printer instead. I think I'll take some time to actually scan the scraps before uploading them.
As far as the title is concerned, and one of the other reasons I've been lax in updating, is that I've been busy (along with my better half) welcoming the arrival of my son, Reuben Raymond Singer-Michaud, into the world. Born on April 22nd, at 2:57 a.m, with a weight of 7 lbs and 9 oz, he's already branded his stamp of existence upon the world as another stubborn male in this family.
It's been both a delight and a trial of my patience to care for him so far, and I imagine that is how it shall continue to be. Despite numerous attempts to mark me with projectile liquids (urine, spit up, etc.) and recurring episodes of crying that leaves me frustrated, exhausted, and frazzled, I can't muster an ounce of ill-will for it. The little guy is perfect, stunningly beautiful, and I find myself enthralled by every waking moment with him (the moments of disturbed sleep usually begin otherwise, but always reach the same end eventually). He is, as I type this, squirming in a bassinet behind me, sighing contentedly in his sleep. And, tempted as I am to return the favor of crying and jostling HIM awake, every time I peer back at him I can't help but to smile. It's quite the experience, unlike anything I've ever really known. And I'm addicted to every minute of it.
